The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) approved the revised layout of the proposed Film City in Noida Sector 21, ToI reported.
This comes just days after the layout was rejected over land use violations and missing clearances.
On 27 May, YEIDA had turned down the original plan submitted by Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd, a consortium led by filmmaker Boney Kapoor and Bhutani Group, citing violations of green area norms and absence of key approvals.
"The revised layout plan now complies with all terms and conditions, including the requisite NOCs for fire safety and structural stability. It also adheres to the approved land-use plan. That is why we approved the layout," said YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh, as quoted by ToI.
He clarified that approval has been granted only for Phase 1, which covers 80 acres of the industrial zone.
This phase includes a film institute and studios. Of the total 230-acre project, 155 acres are allotted for industrial use and 75 acres for commercial development.
Earlier, the plan faced objections for altering green zones and including commercial buildings in areas reserved for parks. The revised plan ensures 15 per cent green cover, as required. Under the concession agreement, large-scale commercial work can only begin after 15% of the core film infrastructure is completed.
Boney Kapoor said the groundbreaking ceremony is likely before June 30, and plans are in place to complete Phase 1 within 18 months. He added that plans are in place to begin shooting once the first phase is completed.
Located just 4 km from the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, the Film City’s strategic position could significantly grow the region’s entertainment industry.
