The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at over 40 locations across Tamil Nadu this morning (15 February) in connection with the Coimbatore car blast case.
Ukkadam and Kuniyamuthur are some of the areas in Coimbatore where searches are being conducted.
In Tiruchirapalli, a five member team is conducting a search at the house of Sheikh Dawood, an IT professional. A driver, Mohammad Faisal from Mayiladuthurai district is also under the scanner.
While Jameesha Mubeen, the ISIS-affiliated suicide bomber died due to an explosion of a LPG cylinder in the car he was driving to carry out a terror attack, many others are believed to have helped him.
11 arrests have been made in the case so far.
The raids come a day after the 25th anniversary of the 1998 Coimbatore bombings in which 58 people lost their lives and over 200 were injured.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
