Prime Minister Narendra Modi disclosed on X about his "good conversation" with the President of UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the West Asia situation on Friday (3 November).

Mentioning shared "deep concerns at the terrorism, deteriorating security situation and loss of civilian lives", he said, "We agree on the need for early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation and that a durable regional peace, security, and stability is in everyone’s interest."

This comes hours after the UAE expressed concerns about the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, warning of the real risk of a regional spillover and claimed that it is actively working to secure a humanitarian ceasefire.

The UAE was a prominent Arab country that signed the 2020 Abraham Accords, a series of agreements with Israel, with the hope of normalising ties with Saudi Arabia. However, the ongoing conflict has posed challenges to those plans.

The UAE views groups like Hamas as a threat to the Middle East and supported Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi when he ousted President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013. Kaabi stressed the importance of protecting civilians and ending the conflict promptly.
