Income Tax department officials are conducting searches at 10 locations in Karur connected to minister Senthil Balaji who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The properties reportedly belong to Mani, a friend of Balaji's brother Ashok Kumar.
Balaji is under judicial custody till 12 July and remains admitted in the Kauvery Hospital, where he had undergone bypass surgery.
Justice CV Karthikeyan of the Madras High Court is expected to hear the habeas corpus plea filed by Balaji's wife today (11 July). Justice Karthikeyan was named by Chief Justice SV Ganagapurwala as the third judge to hear the case after a Division Bench of the High Court, comprising Justices J Nisha Banu and D Bharatha Chakravarthy gave a split verdict.
