The Raj Bhavan today (6 July) issued a clarification on a letter written by the state's Law Minister S Regupathy regarding the delay in granting sanction for the prosecution of four ministers of the previous All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government.
A press release issued by the Raj Bhavan stated—
"The facts are as under:
1. With respect to Thiru B.V.Ramanaa @ B.Venkat Ramanaa and Dr.C.Vijaya Bhaskar, the cases have been investigated by the CBI and these are under legal examination.
2. With respect to the Directorate of Vigilance case against Thiru K.C.Veeramani, the same could not be acted upon due to the fact that the State Government has to submit a duly authenticated copy of the Investigation report for further action.
3. Raj Bhavan has not received any reference or request in respect of Thiru M.R.Vijaya Bhaskar from the State Government."
While Ramana and C Vijayabaskar are accused in the Gutka scam, Veeramani and MR Vijayabhaskar have been accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The issue of sanction to prosecute these ministers was also brought up by Chief Minister MK Stalin in his response to Governor Ravi regarding the dismissal of Senthil Balaji.
