Marathas & Patidars On Quota—Similar Yet Different

We've seen two communities making OBC quota demands in recent years.

The Marathas have been agitating over the issue and the protests don't seem to be ending soon. There appears to be organic ground level support for this demand.

The Patidars, on the other hand, were also 'seen' agitating for OBC quota but this demand has quietly gone out of the news without any major protests.

Both the communities are placed similarly in the political hierarchy of their respective states and yet one appears to have side-stepped the issue of reservations to some degree.
