While Khalistani preacher Amritpal Singh is still missing, his accomplice and close aide Joga Singh, who had fled with him two weeks ago, was apprehended in Punjab today.
Joga Singh was caught near Ludhiana's Sonewal.
During the police crackdown on pro-Khalistani group 'Waris Punjab De', Amritpal Singh with his driver Joga Singh, and associate Pappalpreet had managed to flee.
Amritpal had reportedly instructed Joga Singh to continue running with his phone on, in order to deceive the police, who were monitoring Amritpal's whereabouts using his driver's phone signals.
As per the reports, Joga Singh was found alone and away from his boss, Amritpal, who had once again evaded the cops.
The Khalistani preacher managed to evade police for two weeks and shared two videos on YouTube during his escape.
In one of the videos, he urged all Sikh organisations across the world to attend a Sarbat Khalsa discussion on Baisakhi regarding community issues.
Amritpal has been on the run from police since 18 March when he and his supporters took over a police station close to Amritsar to release an arrested man.
Earlier, the High Court had questioned how Amritpal Singh evaded arrest repeatedly in Punjab and Haryana. "You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing? How did Amritpal Singh escape?" the High Court had asked the Punjab government.
