While Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee, currently in Delhi, declined to comment elaborately on Kalyan Banerjee mimicking Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, she indirectly blamed Rahul Gandhi for bringing the act to light.
Talking to reporters, Banerjee said, "We respect everyone. There is nothing like disrespect. This was a casual political act. You would not have even known about the incident if Rahul ji had not recorded a video."
When asked further if she supports the act, Banerjee said that she will not talk about anything other than Bengal. She clarified that she will not "discuss anything" about her parliamentary party.
"They are enough to reply the question. There is a system," the West Bengal Chief Minister said suggesting reporters inquire with Derek O'Brien or Sudip Bandyopadhyay for a response.
Banerjee also acknowledged that during the INDI Alliance meeting yesterday, she had proposed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's name for opposition's PM face and Arvind Kejriwal supported it.
