Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (9 November) launched a scathing attack on Congress in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing a public rally at Satna, PM Modi said, "You have to remember one lesson - 'Congress aayi tabahi laayi' (Congress comes to power, brings ruin with it). If Congress comes even by mistake, then all the help you get from the government will be stopped".
PM Modi said that in 10 years, the BJP government sent Rs 33 lakh crore directly into the bank accounts of the poor and not even a single rupee of this has been diverted.
"The fake beneficiary scam is a living proof of how Congress snatches away the rights of the poor," he said.
"Congress had created as many fake beneficiaries on paper across the country as the population of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh combined," he added.
"Modi also stopped the scams and stopped the middlemen who were present during the corruption period of Congress. The BJP government started transferring money from government schemes into the bank accounts of the poor," the Prime Minister said.
"Be it houses for the poor, free ration, free treatment, today the BJP government is spending lakhs of crores of rupees on these, that is, the country's money is being used for the poor. But when Congress was in power, lakhs of crores of rupees of the country went into 2G scam, coal scam, Commonwealth scam and helicopter scam," PM Modi said.
"Modi has stopped all these scams," he added.
