Don't Change Governor Ravi Till Parliament Elections: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin's Sarcastic Plea To PM Modi

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin launched a strong verbal attack against Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi on Friday (27 October).

Stalin sarcastically urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to refrain from removing Ravi until the parliamentary elections.

Stalin referred to Ravi as a "peddler of lies" who questioned the meaning of Dravidam, suggesting that his presence would be beneficial for electoral purposes.

This criticism comes in response to Raj Bhavan's accusation that the local police failed to register a complaint regarding the 'petrol bomb' incident.

"For the past two days, you all know what lies he (Tamil Governor RN Ravi) has been peddling. According to me, this person who is peddling lies and asking what Dravidam is, should continue being here. That is going to help us. I am requesting the Union government, the PM and Home Minister Amit Shah, to not change him at least till the Parliament elections," he said, ANI reported.

The Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan issued a statement on Thursday expressing strong dissatisfaction with the state police for not registering its complaint regarding the bomb issue.

The statement accused the police of trying to downplay the severity of the attack by labeling it as mere vandalism. It also lamented that any hopes of a fair investigation had been extinguished even before it could begin.

The BJP on Thursday demanded a probe by the anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the petrol bomb case.

The ruling DMK had said on Wednesday that the incident was condemnable and asserted the government would never allow such untoward incidents as it would bring disrepute to the regime.

"Police didn't register Raj Bhavan complaint on attack. Suo Moto diluted the attack as act of simple vandalism and in hurry got arrested accused remanded to jail at midnight waking up the magistrate and prevented detailed interrogation which could expose those behind attack. Fair investigation is killed before it began," Raj Bhavan wrote on X on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a 42-year-old man threw a 'Molotov' cocktail at the main gate of Raj Bhavan.

The BJP responded to the incident by suggesting that the case be transferred to the NIA or CBI, as they believed the Tamil Nadu police were influenced by the people belonging to the ruling DMK party.

Tamil Nadu law minister, Regupathy, on Thursday alleged the attack was part of a conspiracy to bring disrepute to the DMK government. He also claimed RN Ravi had been trying to incite hatred against the state government and campaigning like an Opposition leader.
