In what could be a significant upset for the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, a state it wrested from the BJP last year, Bollywood actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut of the BJP could defeat Vikramaditya Singh, son of the late Virbhadra Singh, a six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, in Mandi.
The Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, one of four parliamentary constituencies in the state, has seen representation from both the BJP and the Congress. Traditionally held by the Congress, it leaned towards the BJP in the last two elections.
However, in the by-election for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in 2021, Vikramaditya Singh's mother, Pratibha Singh, managed to win the seat for the Congress.
