Chandrayaan-3: All Set To Initiate Automatic Landing Sequence, Says ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has said that it is all set for initiating the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) for the Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander module.

The Indian space agency said that it is awaiting the arrival of the lander module at the designated point at around 5.44 pm today (23 August).

After the lander module arrives at the designated point, the ALS command will be sent to it.

Following this, the throttleable engines of the lander module will be activated for the powered descent.

"All set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS). Awaiting the arrival of Lander Module (LM) at the designated point, around 17:44 Hrs. IST. Upon receiving the ALS command, the LM activates the throttleable engines for powered descent," the ISRO said in a tweet on Wednesday (23 August).

The mission operations team will keep confirming the sequential execution of commands, the Indian space agency said.

The live telecast of operations at Mission Operations Complex (MOX) begins at 5.20 pm, it added.
