Under the operation six terrorists have been neutralised by the Army in just one day. Two terrorists were eliminated on Monday afternoon, followed by a late-night killing of another four terrorists at Shindra Top in Surankote area of Poonch.
According to a Defence spokesperson, the operation is still underway. The security forces are continuing their efforts to locate and neutralize the terrorists.
Intermittent firing has been reported from the besieged area at regular intervals. As soon as the gunfight broke out, reinforcements were immediately sent to the location, as confirmed by officials.
Officials have reported that all escape routes have been blocked and a strict watch was maintained throughout the night as the operation continued.
To combat attempts to smuggle armed terrorists, weapons, and narcotics across the border, random searches and surprise vehicle checks have been intensified in Poonch, as well.
It is believed that the Indian Army is currently engaged in a conflict with two groups of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who are operating in the Kandi Forests of Rajouri, since 2021. These terrorists are reportedly part of the Kotli-based Sajjid Jutt, also known as the Habibullah Malik module, which is based in Pakistan.
The fact that the two terrorist groups have been operating in the Kandi Forests of Rajouri since 2021 without being flushed out is a cause for concern.
This operation was launched in response to the terror incidents launched by this terror modules that killed ten Indian Army soldiers, including five from the special forces.
In the Krishna Ghati Sector of the Poonch district, security forces successfully killed two terrorists and thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control on the night of 16 and 17 July.
