A Supreme Court bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma today (28 November) refused to grant bail to minister Senthil Balaji on medical grounds.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, during the hearing, the bench on perusal of the medical records, stated that there was nothing serious in his health condition.

Balaji was allowed to withdraw his plea and asked to approach the trial court for regular bail.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Balaji requested that remarks made by the courts during the hearing of his medical bail plea should not affect the regular bail plea.

The bench accepted the request and the order mentioned, "Any observation made in the interim order against the petitioner on merits shall not come in the way of the petitioner in filing regular bail application."

Balaji is currently admitted to the state-government-run Omandurar Hospital in Chennai. His judicial custody ends on 4 December.
