Tamil film actor Vijay today (22 August) unveiled the flag and song for his recently launched political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) at a programme in Chennai.

The flag is divided into three strips. While the top and bottom ones are maroon in colour, the one in the middle is yellow. The yellow strip has two elephants and the vaagai flower in the middle.

TVK functionaries took the party pledge.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay said that it was a happy day for everyone and the next programme would be a state-level party conference. He added that the TVK's action plan, the interpretation for the flag and the party's principles will be announced during the conference.

Vijay called upon his supporters to hoist the flag at their homes and said that this is not just the party's flag but the flag for the future generations of Tamil Nadu.

The entry of the TVK has been watched closely given the state has seen a number of actors and actresses joining politics. While some like M G Ramachandran and Vijayakanth have been successful, others like Kamal Haasan and Sivaji Ganesan haven't been so lucky.
