Former Member of Parliament Baijayant Jay Panda announced in the evening of 4 March 2019 that he had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Jay Panda, who was the founding member of Biju Janata Dal, had differences with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and had to make the hard call to quit the party.
