Pakistan's strategic partner, Malaysia, has once again seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 passenger jet due to outstanding payment issues.
According to a report, the Boeing 777 aircraft was acquired by PIA through a leasing arrangement with Malaysia. Reportedly, the passenger jet was seized due to non-payment of dues worth $4 million.
This incident marks the second occurrence of the same aircraft being seized by Malaysian authorities.
In a previous incident in 2021, the Kuala Lumpur airport authorities took possession of the same aircraft due to non-payment of dues totaling $14 million.
The jet was subsequently released by the Malaysian court following an out-of-court settlement and diplomatic assurances to the leasing company.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
