On Monday (20 November), Chandra Arya, an Indian-origin Canadian Member of Parliament, shared a video on the social media platform X, purportedly showing pro-Khalistan supporters in Surrey expressing their intention to cause trouble at the Hindu Laxmi Narayan Mandir.

Arya urged Canadian authorities to take action, citing previous incidents of hate crimes against Sikh and Hindu communities.

Arya stated, "Last week, Khalistan supporters verbally abused a Sikh family outside a Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, BC, according to some reports. Now it appears the same Khalistan group wants to create trouble at the Hindu Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey."

He emphasised that these actions, carried out in the name of freedom of speech, are unacceptable, and he called for intervention by Canadian authorities.

Highlighting the repeated attacks on Hindu temples, Arya noted, "Hindu temples have been attacked many times during the last couple of years. Hate crimes are being committed against Hindu-Canadians."

This incident follows a series of attacks on Hindu temples in Canada by Khalistani extremists, including the vandalisation of a temple in August with Khalistan referendum posters, featuring the image of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist killed in June.

Arya pointed out previous incidents of temple vandalism and urged authorities to address these issues.
