All-Round Appeasement? After Wooing Christians, Muslims, Dalits, Naidu Promises Swift Dzire To Jobless Brahmins

After promising reservation under SC category to converted Christians, crores for building churches as well as supporting Muslim Personal Law Board’s fight against Triple Talaq Bill, Chandrababu Naidu has promised Swift Dzire cars for unemployed Brahmin youth, reports India Today.
Naidu-led TDP government in Andhra Pradesh had earlier promised to distribute 14 million smartphones to increase the ease of living.
The Chief Minister would allocate 30 Swift Dzire cars from his camp office in Amaravati to unemployed Brahmin youth on Friday. Brahmin Welfare Corporation (BWC) has sanctioned 50 cars in the first phase.
The distribution is being done under a self-employment programme, in which the BWC will give Rs 2 lakh as subsidy while the beneficiary would have to contribute 10 per cent of the vehicle cost. The rest of the amount will be provided by the Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society as a repayable loan on EMI basis.
In the face of upcoming state assembly elections, Naidu has been on an appeasement drive, promising doles to different communities. The current gimmick of car distribution is being seen as a measure to restore a semblance of balance, as previously Naidu had made tall promises to other communities.
Naidu had said, “For Christian Bhavan, we gave two acres land and Rs 10 crores. Now, we are allotting additional six crores as per your appeals. We will provide full economic support for the construction of churches even without contribution. We will give 24 December as an optional holiday. We will spend Rs 100 crores to develop burial grounds for Christians.”
He had also promised hiking Jerusalem travel aid.
