The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to open more drive-through Covid-19 vaccination centres in the state after the "success" of the initiative in Noida.
Director General (Family Welfare) Dr Rakesh Dubey is quoted as saying: "Currently, we are preparing to start this facility in Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Meerut, Jhansi, Agra, Mathura, Saharanpur, Ayodhya and Ghaziabad. If everything goes well, after the first week of June, the facility of getting vaccinated by sitting in a car can begin in these cities."
A report says: The Department of Family Welfare has sought a proposal from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) regarding the opening of more such drive-through centres.
The drive-through facilities will be free of cost, the report says.
The report points that "the exemption" will be provided only if there is the presence of adequate parking to help the vaccinated person wait inside their vehicle for half an hour, as required after the dose is administered.
In case of any side effect or discomfort the medical team shall provide immediate assistance.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
