The Indian Cricket Team captain, Virat Kohli is said to have gradually built himself a formidable brand with a chance to turn it into a massive empire which is no ordinary feat in the second most populated country in the world, as reported by TNIE.
Despite his often brazen behaviour, he is perceived to be a straightforward personality. This is turning his brand, which could have taken a beating , into an advantage for him, in an opinionated yet cricket mad nation like India.
Kohli has reportedly built a formidable brand presence as he endorses various products like cars, watches, sports shoes, motorbikes, clothes, tires, snacks, ride services, headphones and toothbrushes. The cricketer is considered a youth icon with his tattooed arms and new hairstyles. He endorses over 21 brands, which includes the likes of Tissot, Audi, Puma, Uber and Hero, which has placed him at No 83, ahead of athletes like Sergio Aguero and Novak Djokovic in Forbes’s 2018 list of the World’s 100 highest-paid athletes , with an estimated income of $24 million over the past 12 months.
Kohli will not be able to challenge the likes of boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather who is Forbes number one and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi who is number two, due cricket fascination being limited primarily to Commonwealth nations. However, he could eclipse former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the highest paid athlete in the country.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
