Assam Govt To Begin Implementation Of Centre's New Education Policy From April 2022

Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday (20 August) said that the implementation of the Centre's New Education Policy (NEP) in Assam would begin from 1 April 2022, reports Livemint.
In line with NEP, the state government would upgrade all high schools into senior secondary schools. The upgrade of the academic infrastructure of educational institutions for the same would be completed within the span of a year.
Sarma said, "The state government would continue implementing new provisions of the policy every year to bring about a transformative change in the education department in the next five years."
Sarma further added, "Science, maths and English would be taught in the English language and the rest of the subjects in the mother tongue."
Sarma also pledged to provide the youth of the state with one lakh jobs. He added, "While fulfilling this promise the state government today launched the appointment process and soon advertisements would be published for several thousand jobs in the education department besides conducting TET."
