Piyush Goyal began his budget speech by stating by 2022, all Indian citizens would live a clean and healthy life and where everyone would have access to toilets.
By 2022, the NDA government has endeavored to rid the country of corruption and nepotism. India is not only the fastest growing economy in the world, it is also a bright spot in the otherwise volatile world economy, said Goyal.
He added that under the Narendra Modi government, GDP growth was higher than any other government since the economic reforms of 1991.
Noting that inflation is hidden tax and unfairly targets the poor and middle classes, he stated that the government has brought down average inflation to 4.2 per cent, lower than any other government,
The fiscal deficit target has been revised from 3.3 per cent to 3.4 Per cent for 2018-19. Also, Current account deficit will be contained to 2.5 per cent.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
