In a major development, the Chandrayaan-3 is now an official project which the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is working on, as the premier space research organisation has sought an additional Rs 75 crore from the Government of India over its yearly budgetary allocation to implement the project, reports Times of India (ToI).
ISRO has sought the amount under the provisions of the supplementary budget for the ongoing financial year, and it plans to spend Rs 60 crore of the total towards machinery, equipment and other capital requirements.
The amount sought by the ISRO for urgent implementation of the Chandrayaan-3 project forms as much as 11 per cent of the total Rs 666 crore which has been sought by it as additional funds under the supplementary budgetary provisions.
ToI has also reported that even though the process for sanction of funds is still to be completed, ISRO has been assured that it will get the funds for implementation of the Chandrayaan-3.
