During his visit to his Parliamentary constituency of Varanasi to inaugurate an array of projects including a multispeciality hospital and the tallest statue of Shayama Prasad Mukherjee on 16 February, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi met with Mangal Kewat, the rickshaw puller who had sent PM Modi an invite to his daughter's wedding, reports Asian News International (ANI).
At the meeting, PM Modi lauded Kewat's contribution to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan as he had taken up the onus on himself to clean the banks of Ganga in his village. PM Modi also enquired about health and well-being of Kewat and his family.
The meeting took place as Kewat and his wife Renu Devi had expressed the desire to meet with PM Modi after they had received a congratulatory letter from him on their daughter's wedding on 8 February.
It should be noted that Kewat had personally travelled to the PM's Office in New Delhi to hand over the letter inviting him.
