Five Acre Land Allocated By Yogi Govt For Mosque Is Disputed With Cases Filed By Multiple Claimants 

The five acre land allocated by the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government as an alternate site for a mosque as mandated by the Supreme Court’s Ram Janmabhoomi verdict, is disputed with multiple claimants, Hindi News18 has reported.

As per the report the land has been claimed by three parties including the agricultural department and two court cases are currently ongoing to this regard.

The report claims that prior to independence the land was used as a halting point by British soldiers. Post-independence it was used to settle a partition refugee Jyan Chand Punjabi.

After his death the land was transferred to his wife who subsequently shifted to Delhi and the caretaker Udit Singh staked his claim on the land. During this dispute, the agriculture department allocated the land to the government and Jyan Chand’s family is currently fighting a case in an Ayodhya court.

Even Udit Singh’s family has filed its own litigation and has also acquired a court order barring them from being evicted from the land.

The report adds that the matter may drag on if any of the claimants goes to the High Court against the administration’s order to allocate the land for the mosque.
