France again diplomatically stood up for India after China again sought an United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session on Kashmir.

Taking India’s side, France vehemently opposed this demand by China and reiterated that the issue needs to be discussed bilaterally between India and Pakistan.

“The Kashmir issue must be settled bilaterally as we have stated on several occasions and will continue to reiterate to our partners at UNSC”, said France.

Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul added that despite France’s opposition, the UNSC decided to hold a closed door meeting over the Kashmir issue but nothing is expected to come out of it as China had raised the issue “in any other business format in the meet”.

France is also expected to express its opposition during the closed door meet.
