The Sainagar Shirdi railway station in Maharashtra has been revamped under the station redevelopment and beautification initiative of the Piyush Goyal-led Railways Ministry, reports Financial Express.
Shirdi railway station, which is under the Solapur division of Central Railway zone, will now have several new passenger-friendly amenities and facilities.
The station has been reportedly provided with features including new Footbridge (FOB) with lifts, a new food plaza, train watering facility at second platform, CCTV, WiFi facility, coach guidance system along with tree plantation.
Railways has been redeveloping stations in the past few months, some of which are are New Delhi railway station, Jaipur junction, Haridwar junction, Mathura junction, Lonavala station among several others.
According to reports, the Railway Ministry plans to redevelop 68 stations. Also, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had earlier announced that 690 stations would have “airport-standard” lighting.
The Habibganj station and Gandhi Nagar station were reportedly converted to world-class stations.
FE also reports that the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) will invest Rs 7,500 crore for the renovation of almost 50 stations.
