Bengaluru’s Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station on Friday morning (31 May) witnessed a bomb scare after staff found handmade grenade bomb casings near the Patna bound Sanghamitra express train, the Indian Express reports.
Passengers were seen panicking, and running away from the location after the bomb scare. Later, Railway police and bomb disposal squad with sniffer dogs arrived at the spot to investigate.
The Additional Director General of Police (Railways), Alok Mohan had rushed to the spot. “The object was found by a railway staff near the Patna-bound Sanghamitra Express at around 8.30 am. The investigation is going on and we are going through CCTV footage to gather further information,” he said.
While the police denied it to be a live grenade, they did confirm that it contained grenade casings. The police have increased security at the city railway station following the incident, and are investigating various angles.
