Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (7 March) became emotional while holding a video conference with the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras across the country.
During an interaction with a woman who was a beneficiary of the Jan Aushadi centre, Prime Minister Modi could not hide his emotions as she praised him.
In a video, shared by a journalist Vikas Bhadauria, the woman can be heard saying that her monthly bill on medicines was around Rs 5,000. However, after she started buying the medicines from the Jan Aushadi centre, her expenditure on drugs came down to just Rs 1,500.
The women further said that she is using the money saved due to Jan Aushadi centre for buying fruits and her other expenses.

“Modi ji, I have not seen god, but I see you as God,” the women said while thanking PM Modi and started crying. Hearing her words, Prime Minister Modi too grew visibly emotional.
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses.
The Jan Aushadi Kendras or the PMBJP stores have been set up to provide generic drugs, which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs.
During the video conference, PM Modi said that there were more than 6,000 Jan Aushadhi Centres across the country and over one crore families are benefiting from the cheaper medicines from the stores.
He said the cost of treatment has gone down due to cheaper drugs. "I am told that till date poor and middle-class people have saved over Rs 2,000 crore with the Jan Aushadhi Centers," PM Modi said.
