Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in an interview on Sunday (19 April) said that the Indian Army is proactively carrying out targeted strikes on terror launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) and eliminating the infiltrators even before the they cross over into India, reports Economic Times.
Singh assured the nation that the armed forces remain prepared for all contingencies and to defend the national sovereignty from adversarial forces in all scenarios even as the nation fights the COVID-19 pandemic.
He reportedly said, "The Indian armed forces are prepared for all contingencies and I can assure the country that we are prepared to defend our sovereignty from adversarial forces in all scenarios."
The public assertion of the Army's targeted strikes on terror launch pads comes as Pakistan has resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC, making repeated efforts to push its militants into the Kashmir Valley over the past several weeks.
On Thursday and Friday (18-19 April), Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General MM Naravane had visited the forward locations along the LoC to assess the situation on the frontiers.
He had denounced Pakistan for exporting terror at a time when the world in battling the coronavirus crisis.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that recently, in the Keran sector five Indian elite para commandos had laid down their lives while eliminating a group of infiltrating militants from Pakistan.
