The person accused of throwing a grenade at the crowded bus station in Jammu which killed two people and injured more than 30 is a Class 9 student who is about to turn 13 on Sunday, his school certificate states.
A few hours after the attack, Jammu and Kashmir police said they arrested a person from South Kashmir’s Kulgam and that he was tasked by the Hizbul Mujahideen’s Kulgam district commander to carry out the attack.
“This is to certify that… is a student of class 9th. His date of birth as per school records is as under 10-3-2006,” said a school statement issued by the school’s principal in Kulgam district, where the accused is enrolled, reported Indian Express.
IGP Jammu M K Sinha along with senior police officers had presented the accused before the media, in a press conference, and revealed all his details. The family members of the accused claim that he had left home on 5 March (Tuesday) afternoon to visit his maternal uncle.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
