BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is doing a good job in the state. Scindia has dismissed the talk of the change of guard in the state.
He met Chouhan and other colleagues from the party in Bhopal earlier this week ahead of the expected event—the upcoming announcement regarding the appointment of chairpersons (state-owned undertakings).
“If I don’t come, the media has an issue and if I come to meet everyone then too there is an issue. Please let me know what I should do,” he is quoted to have said.
Scindia walked to the BJP in 2020 with his loyalists. Sections of the media have hinted that the accommodating of his loyalists in the appointments could be one of his concerns.
Scindia, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from BJP, has been quoted as saying, “Don’t know from where this talk of change in Madhya Pradesh government sprang up. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is doing a good job amid the coronavirus pandemic for the last 16 months”.
Scindia is reportedly on a three-day tour in Gwalior and Chambal region.
He said that leaders in the party, such as Chouhan, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and he are working together.
Scindia has said that the BJP government in MP is preparing to handle a possible third wave of Covid. He has also said that the work against illegal mining in the Gwalior-Chambal region will continue.
On the state front, Scindia put an end to rumours regarding change of guard. He said, “Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister is Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the state is witnessing good governance under his leadership. I do not know how false news is being peddled of a possible change in leadership in the government (sic)”.
Recently, one of his loyalists, Tulsi Silawat, said that Scindia should get due respect in the BJP. His loyalists are reportedly hoping for a place for him in the cabinet at the centre.
