The Union Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) has decided to conduct a massive recruitment drive to fill almost 76,578 vacancies in the Central Armed Police Services, reports India Today.
Out of the open vacancies, 54,953 vacancies are reportedly for the post of constable (general duty). The direct recruitment for the post will be done by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The SSC would conduct a computer-based written examination starting from 11 February to 11 March.
Among the forces, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has the maximum reported vacancies of 21,566, followed by Border Security Force (BSF) with 16,984, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) with 8,546 Indo-Tibetan Border Police with 4,126, and Assam Rifles with 3,076 vacancies.
The remaining vacancies are reported in with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Of the positions 7,646 are for women and 47,307 for men.
The report also says that, at the sub-inspector (general duty) level there are 1,073 vacancies in various CAPFs. The BSF has the maximum vacancies at 508, followed by CRPF with 274, SSB with 206 and ITBP with 85 vacancies. Of these, 1,035 vacancies are for men and the remaining 38 for women.
The direct recruitment for the above mentioned posts would also be done by the SSC through a written examination from 12 March to 16 March.
There also exists almost 466 vacancies at the level of assistant commandant (general duty), for which direct recruitment is being made through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The result of the written examination to fill these posts has been declared on 10 January. The shortlisted candidates will appear for physical/medical examination to be conducted by the SSB, the nodal force, from 25 February onwards.
In addition to this, almost 20,086 vacancies are promotional posts and in other cadres such as tradesman/ministerial/medical/paramedical/communication/engineering etc, and these are also being filled by the ministry.
