Days after the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government stayed the construction of metro shed at Aarey Milk Colony, the Supreme Court has now restrained the Maharashtra Government, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) from felling trees for the Metro 4 project.

This restrainer would be applicable for the next two weeks, as per a report by ANI. These trees were being cut to clear the way for a Metro 4 line on elevated corridors from Wadala to Kasarvadavali.

This Supreme Court decision comes days after a private contractor was booked by the Naupada police station for cutting a few tree branches for the Mumbai metro 4 line. This decision was taken after residents complained about the branch trimming citing a Bombay High Court stay.
