Asserting that he is not politically inert, former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said that he will be assuming the post once again after the next assembly polls in the state, reports PTI.
Allaying the reports of his immediate ambitions to the CM post, the chairman of the Congress-JDS coordination committee clarified that he is willing to occupy the post after the next polls.
Speaking to the reporters in Davangere, Siddaramaiah said, “I had said I will become chief minister in the future.... did I say tomorrow (after Lok Sabha polls). I meant after next assembly election... am I a political sanyasi? If I was why would I come here in this hot sun? I would have sat in the shade. I'm not a political sanyasi, I'm in active politics," as reported by PTI.
"What I said was, in the future our party government will come to power, once I become chief minister, I will increase distribution of rice from 7 to 10 kg. What is wrong in that?" he asked.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
