An integrated platform for different e-commerce sites, banks and other portals, Bharat Bill Pay, offers a platform for all payments to be done digitally. In the latest development, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has got Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on its platform.
Economic Times quoted A R Ramesh, Chief Project Officer for Bharat Bill Payment System, as saying, “BESCOM has partnered with Vijaya Bank for Bharat Bill Pay which has significantly increased accessibility of consumers to the biller on various channels. Also, BWSSB is one of the new billers that is on-boarded for the first time on an interoperable bill payment ecosystem through Canara Bank. With Bharat BillPay, we strive to make consumer’s life easier by providing a one-stop destination for all their recurring bills.”
The app is conceptualised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and will help customers pay their bills online without any hassles. Other electricity boards have the options of paying via the app in Karnataka as well. As of now, there are 24 lakh agent outlets that have been activated with at least 107 billers in India. In Bengaluru, over 30,000 agents are on board that will enable the system to be more accessible.
