Pakistan Army Captain, 11 Soldiers Killed In Terror Attack On Security Forces In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Region

A captain-rank officer and 11 soldiers of the Pakistan Army were killed in a major attack on security forces during an operation against banned terror group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan or Pakistan Taliban in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of the country, reports India Today.

As per reports, terrorists have also taken some civilians working in the region as hostages. Additionally, around 15 soldiers were reportedly injured in the deadly attack.

The officer has been as Captain Abdul Basit, who was on deputation to Thal Scouts of Pak Frontier Corps Wing.

Notably, the incident happened in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or KPK province where 6 employees of Pakistan's Jazz Mobile Operator were abducted by a militia operating the region.

The Pakistan Army had mounted a retaliatory operation in the region to rescue those abducted. Captain Basit was leading this rescue mission.

Quoting the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani news channel Geo TV reported that three terrorists were killed in the "intense exchange of fire" and a cordon-and-search operation is on. ISPR is the Pakistan military's media wing.
