Prominent twitter user Sameet Thakkar who was granted bail by a Nagpur court on Monday (3 November), has now been arrested by the Mumbai Police and will be taken to the Maharashtra capital.
As per a Live Law report, a team of Mumbai's VP Road police station was present in the courtroom while Thakkar was being granted bail. The cops then sought the permission of the presiding judge M V Bharade and proceeded to arrest him.
The arrest has been made over the same comments by Thakkar. This complaint against Thakkar was made by a Mumbai resident known Dharmendra Mishra who calls himself the legal head of Yuva Sena and is also a legal consultant for Shiv Sena.
He was arrested on 24 October by the Nagpur police over a complaint filed by a Shiv Sena leader at Sitabuldi. As per reports he will now be taken to Mumbai today.
The arrests pertain to Thakkar's tweets which allegedly termed Uddhav Thackeray a - modern day Aurangzeb and his son and fellow minister Aditya Thackeray a baby penguin.
Following the arrest a disturbing video released by Thakkar's family purportedly showed him being led to a court while being tied to a rope with his face being covered with a black cloth.
