Taliban's spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has said that China will be their "most important partner" in rebuilding the war-ravaged Afghanistan and that they supports the latter's One Belt, One Road initiative, reports Livemint.
Mujahid said, "China is our most important partner and represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us because it is ready to invest and rebuild our country." He also added, "In addition, China is our pass to markets all over the world."
It should be noted that the Taliban has already said that they look to China to rebuild the land-locked country and use its rich copper deposits amid fear of widespread hunger and an economic collapse.
Meanwhile, China had also said last month that it had no problem in dealing with the Taliban. It had also expressed hope that the Taliban will follow moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies, combat all forms of terrorist forces, and live up to the aspiration of its own people and the international community.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin recently said that China respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty and will not interfere and follow the friendship with “entire Afghan people".

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
