Tamil Nadu: NIA Raids Premises Of Four In Chennai Over Suspected ISIS Links

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Tamil Nadu police raided the premises of four people in Chennai suspected to have helped ISIS members in various ways.
The team seized Rs 4.9 lakh in cash from the house of Haroon Rashid in Muthialpet along with foreign currency belonging to China, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand. Another Rs 10.3 lakh in cash was seized from the premises of Rashid’s trading company in Mannadi.
Many electronic gadgets, laptops, mobile phones, credit and debit cards etc., were seized from the houses of Mohammed Mustafa of Esplanade, Mohammad Tabriz of Kodungaiyur and Toufiq Ahamed in Seven Wells. In total around 150 mobile phones were seized.
While the seized cash has been handed over to the income tax department, the gadgets have been sent for forensic analysis.
Earlier this month, the NIA had conducted raids at 45 location across the state, five of which were in Chennai.
