According to a report published in Asia Times, an internal committee at the Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), in its final inquiry report, has found Lawrence Liang, Dean at its School of Law, Governance and Citizenship guilty of sexually harassing a woman research scholar. The five-member Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment (CPSH), which was headed by Geetha Venkataraman, a faculty member, has asked him to step down from administrative duties for a period of two years. The University committee’s final report on harassment detailed out a number of instances when Liang allegedly crossed the line.

The committee went on to warn the Professor that any complaint of sexual harassment against him in the future could have serious consequences, including suspension from service.

Liang, an alumnus of the National Law School of India Univerity (NLSIU) in Bengaluru,is the founder of Alternative Law Forum, a Bengaluru-based thinktank, and a recipient of the Infosys Science Foundation Prize 2017 in the Social Sciences category.

In November last year a 24-year-old law student Raya Sarkar had published  in Facebook a crowdsourced list of "academics who have sexually harassed or were sexually predatory". The list, which comprised more than 1,000 times, named professors alongside their university affiliations, but did not provide details on the exact nature of the allegations or the accusers.

Liang was one of  the academics named in lawyer Raya Sarkar’s recent Facebook post listing academics who had allegedly sexually harassed women.
