The United States President Donald Trump on Thursday (23 May) congratulated Narendra Modi on his ‘big’ win in the 2019 General Elections, the Times of India reports.
Trump took to Twitter to commend Modi and said there are great things in store for bilateral ties between the two countries.
The US President tweeted, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory! Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!”
Led by PM Narendra Modi, the incumbent, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance raced towards another term in power in the general election of 2019, securing a bigger mandate than it did in 2014 elections.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
