Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (28 April) attacked the ruling Congress government in Karnataka by alleging that instead of controlling crime, it is encouraging the anti-social elements.
While speaking in Uttara Kannada, he raised the issue of Neha Hiremath's murder in Hubballi and said, "Every parent is Karnataka is concerned about one's daughter due to Congress' paap (crime)."
Modi questioned, how the criminal (Fayaz Khondunaik) got the courage to do such a crime in broad daylight on a college campus and alleged that he knew that "vote-bank hungry" people would save him.
Attacking "bad law and order situation," Modi mentioned the Rameshwaram Cafe blast, that happened in Bengaluru on 1 March and said, "As they (Congress) came (to power), terrorists come to blast."
He also targeted Congress' earlier attempts to downplay the incident by calling it a "gas cylinder blast" and said, "Arey, aapka dimaag phata hai ya gas ka cylinder phata hai (have you lost your mind)?"
Modi said that when the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), only then the accused was arrested from West Bengal and pointed towards his links with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).
"In Wayanad, the help of the PFI organisation is sought. This increases the strength of such organisations. Congress sheds tears on the killing of terrorists, you might remember that Congress leader," Modi added.
