Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 expansion is gathering pace, with more than 70 per cent of civil work completed across its three priority corridors, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
A major highlight is the near-completion of the 4.6-km stretch between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village, which includes three new stations — Burari, Jharoda Majra, and Jagatpur Village.
"Delhi Metro's construction work for the priority corridors of Phase 4 is making steady progress. Overall, more than 70% civil work has already been completed in the three corridors. Among these, about 4.6 kilometer long stretch between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village is now almost complete," the DMRC said in a statement.
Trial runs on the line began in December 2024.
"This section, comprising three additional stations – Burari, Jharoda Majra and Jagatpur Village will be opened after obtaining all the mandatory statutory approvals and certifications," the DMRC said.
The DMRC also achieved significant progress on the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, with three major tunnel breakthroughs achieved over the past two months:
Chhatarpur Mandir – IGNOU: 1,475 metres (25 February 2025)
Kishangarh – Vasant Kunj: 1,550 metres (6 March 2025)
Chhatarpur Mandir – IGNOU: 1,460 metres (18 March 2025)
On 5 January, the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension, the first functioning part of Phase 4, was inaugurated.
On the same day, the foundation stone was laid for the Rithala-Kundli corridor, another critical component of this phase.
In total, DMRC is constructing about 112 kilometres of new Metro lines as part of its Phase 4 expansion across the national capital.
