General secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claims that President Droupadi Murmu was not invited to the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony.

Rai cited The Times of India report which quoted Gandhi as saying in Gujarat's Gandhinagar that Murmu was neither invited to the Ram Mandir nor Parliament inauguration because "she is an Adivasi".

"This statement made by Rahul Gandhi in his speech is completely false, baseless and misleading," Rai said referring to the invites sent to President Murmu and former Presidenti Ram Nath Kovind.

"Saints, families and dignitaries from various fields who have contributed to the progress of Bharat, belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), were invited," he added.

"Also, the shramiks involved in the construction of the mandir were also present in the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony. Even during the rituals, many families belonging to SCs, STs and OBCs were given the opportunity to worship in the “Goodh Mandap” of Shri Ram Mandir," he continued.

"Making such false, baseless, and misleading speeches without proper knowledge of facts can create serious differences in the society. Hence these aspects of the speech are deeply offensive to us," Rai concluded.

Notably, President Murmu is scheduled to visit Ayodhya today (1 May), where she "will make darshan and aarti at Shri Hanuman Garhi Temple, Prabhu Shri Ram Temple, and Kuber Teela.  She will also do the Saryu pujan and aarti."
