Gadchiroli And Chandrapur Poised To Become Industrial Hubs With 1.5 Lakh Jobs, Says CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday (28 September) highlighted the growing industrial potential of Gadchiroli and Chandrapur, describing them as emerging industrial magnets capable of generating approximately 1.5 lakh employment opportunities.

Fadnavis emphasised the state government’s commitment to ensuring 100 per cent local employment while maintaining a careful balance between rapid industrialisation and environmental sustainability.

The Chief Minister unveiled a coffee table book produced by the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), which chronicles the foundation’s initiatives, financial achievements, and contributions between 2016 and 2024-25.

Fadnavis lauded Chandrapur district in particular for its effective utilisation of DMF funds in sectors such as employment generation, healthcare, education, and skill-based innovation.

Since its formation, the DMF has collected Rs 2,152.19 crore, of which Rs 1,900.44 crore has been sanctioned for nearly 8,903 projects. An endowment fund of Rs 256.37 crore also highlights the scale of investment in the region.

Among the flagship initiatives is Vidarbha’s first Tata Cancer Hospital in Chandrapur, a 2.35 lakh sq ft facility equipped with 14 beds to deliver advanced cancer care.

Other health projects include modular maternity wards, upgraded operation theatres, and the Smart Hospital scheme for rural and sub-district hospitals.

In education and skill development, efforts span from the Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) at Government Engineering College, Chandrapur, to astronomy labs in 100 rural schools, alongside youth skill training.

Economic empowerment measures include carpet production clusters in Saoli and Bramhapuri, which are providing women with new livelihood opportunities.

Infrastructure works funded by DMF include 438.57 km of rural roads and 71 solar-powered water schemes across 20 villages.

Fadnavis also stressed Maharashtra’s commitment to conservation, citing the 50 crore plantation drive and announcing a fresh plan to plant five crore trees in Gadchiroli.
