Singer Suchitra's interview comes days after Vairamuthu's call for more Hema Commission like investigations.

In a recent interview on a YouTube channel, singer Suchitra stated that lyricist and poet Vairamuthu had made inappropriate advances towards her in a manner similar to other women in the Tamil film industry.

Her remarks come days after Vairamuthu, who has been accused of sexual harassment by mutliple women, had stated that more committees should be formed on the lines of the Hema committee formed in Kerala.

Suchitra said that she was able to understand something was odd with Vairamuthu's appreciation for one of her songs, 'May Maasam 98' as it was not something she believed to have sung well.

Speaking about the song she said:

"After hearing that song, who will fall in love with the voice? If you watch it on television, you may feel some love for Reema Sen (the actress). I sang the song like a nervous rabbit. I was very frightened, and it was very high-pitched also.

"The song was without any expression. If someone is flattering me for that, we will come to know that something is wrong, isn't it?"

Further, she told the interviewer that the following was how he used to call and speak with female singers:

"Ma’am, your voice has a lust,’ 'I have gone mad after hearing your voice,’ and, ‘I’m falling in love with your voice.’

"There is no singer who has not received such a call," she claimed.

Narrating one such instance, she said that Vairamuthu invited her to his home stating that he wanted to give her a gift.

"I didn't go alone. I took my grandmother alongwith me. He looked surprised that I had not come alone. I told him that my grandmother comes with me everywhere I go.

"My grandmother scolded him and asked him to behave properly. She told Vairamuthu that he was like a father to these women. He was sweating during the meeting and when she asked for the gift, he went in and brought two Pantene shampoo bottles. He hadn't intended to give me a gift, he had wanted to touch me inappropriately."
