In a dramatic twist during the Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the Bemetara constituency witnessed a remarkable setback for the Congress party as its veteran leader Ravindra Choubey lost against new commer Ishwar Sahu fielded by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
This triumph also holds profound significance for Ishwar Sahu, as he was handpicked by the BJP to contest the elections in response to allegations of Congress-backed individuals involved in the lynching of his son according to a report from Patrika.
The report also mentions that BJP strategically chose Ishwar Sahu as its candidate, pitting him against Congress nominee Ravindra Choubey for this crucial seat, and also highlighted the issue during the campaign as well.
Ishwar Sahu emerged victorious by defeating Congress stalwart and seven-term winner Ravindra Choubey with a substantial margin of 5527 votes.
