India's Ministry of Law and Justice has inaugurated the 'Live Cases' Dashboard under the Legal Information Management and Briefing System in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, on Tuesday (14 October) inaugurated the dashboard, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation of legal governance.

The event was attended by Union Law Secretary Anju Rathi Rana alongside senior officials from various government departments.

Speaking at the inauguration, Meghwal said the dashboard represents a major step forward in promoting data-driven decision-making and effective governance.

He stated that the use of technology in legal case management will not only improve coordination among ministries and departments but also align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of reducing unnecessary litigation involving the government.

The new platform provides real-time data visualisation of court cases and offers an overview of upcoming hearings, enabling proactive decision-making across government agencies.

Currently, the LIMBS portal hosts 7,23,123 live cases from various ministries and departments, with ministry users and advocates regularly updating case information.

The dashboard enables ministries to track progress and prepare more efficiently by providing comprehensive oversight of the entire litigation lifecycle.

The live cases dashboard is part of the Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS) — a digital platform which tracks government litigation in various courts and tribunals.

Press communication issued stated that the initiative aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing government litigation.

The LIMBS live cases dashboard presents real-time data visualisation of court cases and provides an overview of upcoming hearings, enabling proactive decision-making and better inter-ministerial coordination.

The Union government, recognised as one of the country's biggest litigants, implemented LIMBS to monitor court cases systematically and reduce the litigation burden that has long plagued India's judicial system.
